The KUCCPS is inviting KCSE holders who might have missed placement in Degree, Diploma, Certificate and Artisan courses to apply for TVET courses as from 15th October 2020.
This comes shortly after the inter-university transfer window was closed. The service had enabled students who were unsatisfied with their placement in various institutions to transfer to more preferred institutions.
The announcement was published on 5th October to inform students of the upcoming opportunity which is set to run until November 5th.
Interested students have this once in a year opportunity to be admitted in National polytechnics Technical Training Institutes or other (TVET) institutions where they can pursue their dreams.
For one to apply for placement in TVET institutions, they must have attained the following grades:
- Mean Grade of D – (minus) and below for Artisan Certificate Courses
- Mean Grade of D (plain) and above for Craft Certificate Courses; and
- Mean Grade of C – (Minus) and above for Diploma Courses.
Meanwhile, anybody who has ever benefited from government sponsorship before is not allowed to apply for these TVET courses. This condition has been put in place to ensure those that have never benefited before are given priority in securing these opportunities.
TVET Courses Application Procedure
Applications for TVET courses must be done online through the all too familiar KUCCPS Student’s portal; https://students.kuccps.net/
Once you log into your account, the exact procedure of application is outlined together with available TVET courses, their requirements, a list of Government institutions sponsored under the Ministry of Education and other relevant information.
If you encounter any problems, Huduma Centers across the country are equipped with staff to help you in the application process. Visit any of them to get help.
Huduma Centers were previously affected with the Corona pandemic. However, over time with the gradual reopening of the economy, they have resumed their functions in full force.
Meanwhile, three contacts have been provided by KUCCPS for instant access to Customer Care services from the organization. They are: 020 5137400, 0723954927 or 0734879662. In case you cannot visit a Huduma Center, use these numbers to request help.
Another effective channel to use when none of this above works is Twitter. Sending a direct tweet to KUCCPS official handle improves your chances of getting a reply especially on problems you might be encountering while applying for KUCCPS services
KUCCPS have also developed an app to enable easy access to the student portal by students. The android app although still in the development stages proves to be working well for many since it has garnered an above-average rating of 3.6 and has over 10k downloads.
At the moment, the app functions best as a tool for accessing information regarding their placement, programmes and available institutions under government sponsorship through the Placement Service.
You ought to try this app which is available in Google Play store and can be directly accessed using THIS LINK
All the best
